Catalonia, the land of pork and shellfish. It’s what’s for dinner. Again.
If you have this recurring nightmare, we’re here to wake you up, gently hold your hand and tell you that relief is on the way. It wasn’t always like this.
Catalonia was once home to a thriving Jewish population, as evidenced by the Call, the old Jewish quarter in Barcelona that winds through the streets behind the palace of the Generalitat, the state government. The history of Sephardic Jews has also been very well preserved in the city of Girona, a hundred kilometers to the north, which was a major center for Kabala in the middle ages. (Possibly decades before Madonna.)
The Sephardim thrived under both Muslim and Christian rulers for centuries on the Iberian Peninsula. Then along came 1492 and now it’s impossible to get a decent bagel anywhere.
Fear not. We would never let you go hungry. Our caterers can guarantee that your event will feature much more than a paltry array of potatoes and olives. You will feast on delicious kosher treats unique in all Catalonia. Kosher catering is regulated by the Beth Din.
L’chaim.
